Accuracy and review

Fact-Checking Process

FinanceCalcHub reviews content according to the type of page, the importance of the claim and the potential consequences of an incorrect or misleading explanation.

Different content requires different checks

A simple hourly wage conversion does not require the same review as a statement about an IRS procedure. The level of review should reflect the nature and importance of the information.

Our review may include:

  • checking formulas and arithmetic independently
  • testing calculator inputs and expected outputs
  • reviewing labels, units, rounding and displayed assumptions
  • comparing procedural claims with official documentation
  • checking that external links support the relevant statement
  • distinguishing estimates from exact or guaranteed results
  • reviewing disclosures and limitations
  • checking consistency with related FinanceCalcHub pages

Calculator checks

Calculator review begins with the mathematical relationship being modeled. Inputs are checked to confirm that they are used in the intended formula and that outputs respond logically when inputs change.

We also review whether percentages are converted correctly, payment frequencies are handled consistently, loan terms are expressed in the proper units and displayed values use reasonable rounding.

Many personal finance calculators intentionally simplify real-world conditions. A technically correct formula can still produce a misleading impression if its assumptions are not explained. Therefore, assumptions and limitations are part of the review.

Tax and payroll content

Tax and payroll pages may involve federal rules, state rules, employer settings, filing status, deductions, credits and local requirements. FinanceCalcHub does not present simplified estimates as exact tax returns or guaranteed paycheck results.

Important procedural explanations should be checked against appropriate official material where practical. Readers are directed to the IRS, relevant government agencies, payroll departments or qualified professionals for decisions requiring personal guidance.

Mortgage and lending content

Mortgage calculations may include principal, interest, taxes, insurance, PMI, HOA fees and maintenance assumptions. Review checks whether each amount is clearly identified and whether the page distinguishes principal-and-interest payments from total housing costs.

FinanceCalcHub does not determine lending eligibility, approval, creditworthiness or the exact terms a lender may offer.

Investing content

Investing guides are reviewed to avoid presenting hypothetical growth as guaranteed performance. Return assumptions, risk, volatility, fees, taxes and possible loss of principal should be addressed where relevant.

FinanceCalcHub does not recommend individual securities, brokers, funds or personalized portfolios.

Real Money Stories

Real Money Stories distinguish between what a person publicly reported, what cannot be independently verified and what official guidance says about the broader issue.

Public forum comments and personal accounts are not treated as substitutes for official guidance. The purpose of these stories is education, not independent verification of every private fact in a person’s situation.

Use of editorial review labels

An editorial review label means that the content has been checked for clarity, consistency, source use and alignment with FinanceCalcHub standards. It does not represent certification by a licensed professional unless a page explicitly states otherwise.

Corrections and re-review

A page may be re-reviewed when an official source changes, a calculation is improved, a material error is reported, a link stops working or an explanation needs additional context.

Readers can report possible issues through the Contact page or by emailing contact@financecalchub.com.
